All work shall be in accordance with the specifications now available on AmesBids at website or on file in the Purchasing office of Ames, Iowa, which, by this reference are made a part hereof, as though fully set out and incorporated herein. Written questions will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. local time on March 7, 2023. Said questions are to be submitted in AmesBids at website. The preferred method is to submit bids in AmesBids at website in the format required, included with these bid documents with all prices and requested data properly filled in, prior to the time and date bids are due. If technical issues occur while submitting the bid, contact the Purchasing Manager for the bid and determine an alternate method to receive the bid. Failure to submit the required information may deem the bid non-responsive. The bid shall include acknowledgement of receipt of all addenda. Addenda numbers shall be filled in the bid response. The City of Ames Purchasing Division is the only authorized source of bid documents. Bid documents obtained from any other source may have an incomplete set of documents. Bidders using bid documents not obtained from the City of Ames Purchasing Division on AmesBids are advised to contact to website to enable receipt of necessary addenda. Reproduction of these documents without the express permission of the City of Ames is prohibited. The general nature of the work consists of cracking and pavement repair, HMA pavement, Pickleball Court posts and net installation, court surfacing, marking and associated work required for the Tennis and Pickleball Courts Improvements. Demolition by Owner and fencing will be by others. The project site is located at Emma McCarthy Lee Park, 3400 Ross Road, Ames, Iowa 50014. All other work indicated in the contract documents shall also be included in the project drawings and scope. Work to be complete no later than September 30, 2023. No bidder may withdraw their bid for at least sixty days after the scheduled closing time for receiving bids. If the accepted bid is over $25,000, the selected Contractor will be required to provide a performance and payment bond equal to the total bid amount. Contractor will include the cost of the performance and payment bond in the bid. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City's Risk Manager and shall guarantee faithful performance of the contract and terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee prompt payment of material and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the work in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. The contractor shall not include sales or use taxes in the bid. Pursuant to Iowa Code and Iowa Administrative Code, the contractor will be authorized to purchase building materials that will be incorporated into real property on this project tax-free. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
