Renovation of an educational facility in Berkeley, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Renovation and modification of an historic building and property for use by the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. - Selective demolition and lawful disposal of materials. - Abatement and disposal of lead, asbestos, mercury. Reference Hazardous Materials Report for the property. - Upgrade of electric service and extensive upgrade of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. - New exterior patio, landscaping, and accessible pathway to the front door. - New kitchenette, janitor closet and also accessible restrooms on each floor. - New addition for elevator and vestibule. - Provision and installation of a limited-use/limited application (LULA) elevator for new accessible path of travel to the basement, first, and second floors. - Provision and installation of new electric heat pump system with baseboard radiators and hydronic fan coil units. - Provision and installation of card readers, cabling, access control unit, programming and testing. - Replacement of lighting, telecommunications, fire alarm system and domestic cold water services. - Cleaning, repairing and refinishing of exterior and interior finishes. - Salvage, storage, restoration and reinstallation of elements. - Rehabilitation of doors and windows. - Replacement of balcony roofing and downspouts. - Installation of select structural sheer & seismic reinforcement. - Signage - Site security and logistics as indicated in Exhibit A. To allow the University to evaluate bidders, each bidder must submit with its bid, a Contractor's Special Statement of Experience. This Contractor's Special Statement of Experience must be provided on the Contractor's letterhead. If your firm provides inaccurate or incomplete information your firm will be found non-responsive. If your firm receives negative project references they may be found non-responsive. To be eligible for consideration of award, the Contractor's Special Statement of Experience must include: 1. Documentation that the bidder has successfully completed the following: a. A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5) comparable restoration projects with a construction value of $4,500,000 or greater, completed in the past 7 years that demonstrate the bidder's ability to successfully complete the project with respect to project size, cost, use, complexity, etc. DO NOT include projects currently under construction. b. All submitted projects must be within the immediate nine Bay Area counties. 2. Documentation that the bidders Project Manager and Superintendent have successfully completed a minimum of two (2) comparable in the past 5 years that meet the criteria listed in 1a above. Provide resume with comparable projects listed. 3. Include the following for each project: (a) project name, (b) project address, (c) owner's name, (d) contract value at award, (e) total Change Order value, (f) completion date, (g) Owner's Representative email address and current phone number and (h) brief scope. 4. Historic renovation work, with preference for prior projects that have a business/institutional occupancy. Experience with extensive utility system upgrades in buildings over 80 years old. Experience with material repair and rehabilitation, especially wood windows and doors. Experience with historic exterior plaster. Experience with minor square footage additions to historic buildings. Experience with elevator/lift procurement and installation. 5. Contractor must have successfully completed at least 3 projects in the last 10 years on a historic building listed on a City, Regional, State or National Register. 6. All projects on all UC Campuses and National Labs (LBNL, LLNL) within the last 5 years. NOTE: Prospective bidders arriving late after the published start time, will not be allowed to participate in the Pre- Bid Job Walk. Only bidders who participate in the Pre-Bid Meeting will be allowed to bid on the Project as prime contractors. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: "B" - General Building Contractor. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $13 per hour as of 10/1/15, $14 per hour as of 10/1/16, and $15 per hour as of 10/1/17) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
