Replacement of fencing around the athletic field and basketball court at berkander field Any bid proposal received after said date and time, whether delivered by hand, submitted via united states postal service, or submitted via any other delivery service, shall be declared invalid. All bids must be placed in a sealed envelope that is plainly marked "bid proposal: replacement of fencing around the athletic field and basketball court at berkander field, north scituate, rhode island." The bid award and signing of contract conditions are set forth in the enclosed specifications.The purchasing agent and the dpw director shall submit a list of bid results along with the recommendation of a successful bidder to the town council. The town of scituate reserves the right to reject any and all bids or any parts thereof; to waive informalities and technicalities; and, to accept that bid which the town and dpw director deem to be in the best interest of the town, whether or not it is the lowest dollar bid. Remove and properly dispose of all old fencing including fabric, rails, gates, posts, and post foundations. Install 9 gauge galvanized chain-link fencing coated in black vinyl around all four sides of the athletic field. The fencing shall be installed opposite the playing side of the posts. Fencing will consist of knuckle selvage on both edges to prevent injury. The bottom of the fence fabric shall be three-quarters of an inch (3/4") plus or minus one-quarter (1/4") above the finished surface. Perimeter fencing (sidelines (after dugouts) and outfield) shall be four feet high. Install galvanized chain link backstop coated in black vinyl (three sections). The backstop fencing shall be ten (10) feet high with an eight (8) foot overhang. The backstop fencing will have top middle and bottom rails Install two (2) galvanized chain-link fenced dugouts coated in black vinyl. The dugouts shall be twenty (20) feet long and eight (8) feet wide. Height of fencing shall be six (6) feet tall from backstop to dugout, including dugout. Install two 42-inch openings to the infield with swing gates (for player access) and two (2) 12-foot openings with roller-gates in right and left outfield perimeter (for field maintenance). Posts for all gates shall be set in concrete bases to a depth of three (3) feet. All fencing shall have a top and bottom rail. All fencing over six feet will also have a middle rail. All fixed component parts, such as post tops, bands, connectors, boulevard clamps, and rail ends, shall be pressed steel and black vinyl coated on visible surfaces. Posts will be set in drilled holes using concrete in holes. Allow concrete to attain at least seventyfive (75) percent of its minimum twenty-eight (28) day strength before rails, tension wire, and fabric are installed. In no case shall these items be installed in less than seven (7) days after placement of concrete. Install two foul poles Contractor is responsible for cleaning the work area each day, including but not limited to removal of all debris from the worksite, for the safety of children. All fencing shall be protected from damage until accepted. Any damaged items shall be removed and replaced at no expense to the TOWN. Repairing of damaged items will not be acceptable All construction must comply with Rhode Island State Building Codes. Building permit is required, but permit fee is waived. 4. Project specifications for replacing Basketball Court Fencing on Berkander Field are as follows: Remove and properly dispose of all old fencing including fabric, rails, gates, posts, and post foundations. Fencing on all four (4) sides of the basketball court shall be ten (10) feet high. All fencing shall be 9 gauge galvanized chain-link fencing coated in black vinyl. The fencing shall be installed opposite the playing side of the posts. Fencing will consist of knuckle selvage on both edges to prevent injury. All fixed component parts, such as post tops, bands, connectors, boulevard clamps, and rail ends, shall be pressed steel and black vinyl coated on visible surfaces. Install one (1) six-foot swing gate consisting of two (2) three (3) foot sections. Install on the opposite side of the court one (1) 42" swing gate. Posts will be set in drilled holes using concrete in holes. Allow concrete to attain at least seventyfive (75) percent of its minimum twenty-eight (28) day strength before rails, tension wire, and fabric are installed. In no case shall these items be installed in less than seven (7) days after placement of concrete. Posts for all gates shall be set in concrete bases to a depth of three (3') feet. All fencing shall have a top, middle, and bottom rail. Contractor is responsible for cleaning the work area each day, including but not limited to removal of all debris from the worksite, for the safety of children.
