Demolition and site work for a clubhouse / community center in Oelwein, Iowa. Completed plans call for the demolition of a 12,380-square-foot clubhouse / community center; and for site work for a clubhouse / community center.
The extent of work involved includes furnishing labor, equipment, and new materials for construction of the Improvements. The Project includes the following Work: This project includes demolition of a 12,380 sq ft Plaza Center building, including utility removals to property line, removal of foundation to a depth 48 inches below finish grade, and structural backfill, and related site restoration. Bidder is not required to conduct any subsurface testing, or exhaustive investigations of Site conditions. The method of construction shall be by contract in accordance with the Bidding Requirements and Contract Documents for said improvements approved by the City of Oelwein. Bids are requested for the following Contract: Oelwein 2022 Plaza Center Demolition Each bid shall be made out on the form furnished by the City of Oelwein and shall be submitted in a sealed envelope marked, Oelwein 2022 Plaza Center Demolition, Oelwein, Iowa. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security in a separate sealed envelope consisting of either: (1) by a cashier's check or certified check in the amount of five percent (5%) drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or (2) a Bid Bond or credit union certified share draft in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid, drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States. The bid security shall be made payable to the City of Oelwein. The bid security must not contain any conditions either in body or as an endorsement thereon. The bid security shall be forfeited by the City of Oelwein as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within fifteen (15) days of the Notice of Award and post bond satisfactory to the Board ensuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract and maintenance of said improvements as required by law and the contract documents. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Owner and which shall guarantee a faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the Owner from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contractor and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvements constructed for a period of two (2) years after completion and acceptance by the Owner. The work under the proposed contract shall commence within ten (10) days of the written "Notice to Proceed". The "Notice to Proceed" is anticipated to be issued within seven (7) days of the Effective Date of the Agreement, and Contract Times for the Work will commence no later than November 01, 2022. The work shall be substantially completed by November 30, 2022 and ready for final completion on or before December 17, 2022, subject to any changes by the Owner. A pre-bid conference will not be conducted for this Project. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. The Owner reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days from the date of receipt of bids.
