Renovation of an educational facility in Denver, Colorado. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The Science Building Compressor Replacement project will include the replacement of one (1) failed Fu Sheng BSR 413 screw compressor with a new Hanbell RC2-55B compressor, install five (5) Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to replace existing line-to-line starters, and install nine (9) new Electronic Expansion Valves (EXVs) and upgradeable EXV controllers to replace failing Thermal Expansion Valves (TXVs). Compressor #1 replacement: Compressor 1 has failed and needs to be replaced. Order all new parts that are required compressor replacement scope Provide and install one (1) new Hanbell RC2-55B compressor to replace existing Fu Sheng BSR 413 screw compressor Disconnect the discharge & suction piping as well as all the electrical wiring to this compressor Unbolt & remove the existing mechanically locked-up (failed) Fu sheng screw compressor Bring the new Hanbell screw compressor up to the roof in the freight elevator Laydown plywood over roof to transport unit from elevator to chiller and rig it into the unit Mount compressor on new isolation mounting pads. Re-pipe the discharge and suction piping to fit to the new compressor Reconnect all the electrical wiring to the new compressor Add MPV valve for low differential start Use nitrogen to pressurize the refrigerant system to check for any leaks Once it is proven to be leak free the evacuation process will begin after the compressor oil has been added Once the vacuum reading in the system is below 500 microns charge the system with new R134 Refrigerant to be supplied by the Auraria Higher Education Center The old compressor will be removed from the roof All oil must be removed and recycled per EPA guidelines Connect new compressor to new VFD (see below) Start-up the new compressor Re-install existing Refrigerant charge in the system then log the compressor operation and go over its operation with the maintenance staff Advise if additional refrigerant is required Clean up the job site. Remove all tools, materials, rigging, etc. VFD scope: Compressors relay on a Line to Line start which causes high electrical demand loads and increases wear on equipment. New VFDs to serve has soft-start and provide future part load controls. Order all new parts that are required for VFD retrofit scope, Provide and install five (5) ABB or Yaskawa VFD to Compressors 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8 rated for the full load amperage of the compressors Provide and install Cool blue filters, line reactors and end caps Remove existing compressor starters Locate new VFDs in existing electrical enclosures or on nearest available wall space EXV Scope: Existing TXVs on the 9 refrigeration circuits are aging and replacing with EXVs will provide improved control and reduce repair expenses on the existing TXVs. Provide and install nine (9) Sporlan EXVs Provide and install nine (9) EXV driver boards On each circuit, Isolate existing piping, transfer refrigerant from piping to system side Remove old TXV, provide and install new EXV Leak test, evacuate and transfer charge back to piping side Install EXV Driver Board, electrical supply power and temperature controls for standalone EXV operation Set up EXVs to operate to meet existing plant controls Date Email Questions Due October 13, 2022 at 5:00PM Anticipated Contractor Start November 1, 2022 Anticipated Construction Start/Finish 11/1/2022 - 6/30/2023
