Work of this Contract comprises design and general construction of gates 5 - 10 and their associated hoist and control systems, located at the Lewes Control Structure; and identified as the Lewes Control Structure Gate Upgrade Project. The project includes design, construction, and commissioning of the following: Conversion of the existing three (3) steel gates in Bays #5, 6 & 7 into remote-controlled gates by purchasing and installing new hoists identical in design to the existing hoists and adding a screw stem connection point to the existing gates. Three (3) new steel gates & hoists identical in design to the existing remote-controlled steel Gate #4 to be installed in Bays #8, 9 & 10, and purchasing and installing hoists identical in design to the existing hoists. Six (6) gate heating systems for the gates in Bays 5 - 10. Remote-control equipment and instrumentation for six (6) gates in Bays 5 - 10. New site monitoring equipment (camera, ultrasonic water level gauge, ambient temperature sensor) Upgrade of electrical power supply to accommodate additional loads from additional remote-control gate hoists, heaters, and control building. New prefabricated engineered control room with corresponding foundation system which will contain all the site control and communications panels. The building will include heating and lighting. New conduits as required for routing of power, control, and communications cables Steel mezzanine structure in Bays 4-10 Design, procurement, and installation of the new mezzanine structures in bays 4-10. Gate guide extensions in Bays 5-10. The project includes the salvage of the following: Removal of three (3) existing gates in Bays #8, 9 & 10, and storing on blocks at site at the direction of the Owner. Removal of existing mezzanine structure, grading and handrails in Bay 4 Removal of existing power panels: MLS-89-2, MLS-TS, MLS Distribution Panel, YECL Meter, and cables Removal of existing Control Cabinet, and cables (the Contractor may propose re-using some existing cables if they can prove that they are in good condition and are of suitable length to reach the termination rack in the new control building.
