Renovation of an educational facility in Austin, Texas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 14-story above grade educational facility.
This will be a selective alteration of the three (3) service elevators in JES Hall. The resultant elevator system will maximize the reliability and extend the usable lifespan of the equipment. The design shall be as energy efficient as possible recovering potential energy released during motion and returning it to the power grid. The project will correct code violations within the hoist way, pit, machinery spaces, and control rooms. The intent is to create a system with the longest life span possible and make it as reliable as can be. All parts altered on the elevator system will be brought into compliance with the latest adopted codes. The latest technology shall be utilized to provide the most current safety features available. The building will be continually occupied during the construction period. The contractor shall be responsible to maintain one bank of elevators in service at all times for the building occupants to use. Temporary screening shall be installed inside the hoist way during the construction process to protect the workers inside the hoist way from the running car and to prevent any interference with the cars left in operation. The contractor shall provide routine monthly service and respond to calls for repair or entrapment twenty-four (24) hours a day on the #6 and #7 bank elevator that is in operation for the entire construction and warranty period.
