Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Kissimmee, Florida. Completed plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; pipeline; road / highway; road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The project includes: The construction of approximately 1.6 miles of four-lane roadway and a four-lane, roughly 100-foot vehicular bridge Mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls, and three roundabouts Utility protection structures, relocation of underground utility conveyance systems, roadway lighting, pavement marking, landscaping and more Apopka-based Southland Construction Inc. is the contractor on the project. As of June 11, 2024, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc. (WDPR) have proposed a 15-year development agreement. A public hearing on the proposed agreement was scheduled for June 5, 2024, where the Board was to consider the first reading of the Chapter 163 Developer's Agreement. If approved, a second and final public hearing is set for June 12, 2024. This final hearing will be crucial for the formal approval of the development agreement. A timeline for construction has yet to be announced; however, it's expected to be completed by 2026.
