A pedestrian bridge is needed to establish a connection to the greater pedestrian trail and sidewalk network. From a connectivity perspective, the bridge is preferred on the east side of 45 Street, to prevent a mid-block crossing. However, the topography of the creek may make construction easier and/or more cost-effective on the west side of the road. Topographic drawings have been included in Appendix D. The City is open to either option and will consider feedback from proponents regarding constructability, including the bridge approaches and tie-ins to the existing concrete sidewalk and/or asphalt trail. The City welcomes multiple options of safe, quality pedestrian bridges from each proponent, with different price points and aesthetics to consider. The project scope includes Pedestrian bridge options to cross Wolf Creek on either side of 45 Street south of 46 Avenue, Design stamped by an engineer qualified to practice in Alberta, Tie-ins to existing sidewalk and asphalt path, Temporary service/maintenance access or other infrastructure necessary for construction, design or operation of the bridge, Landscaping, restoration, remediation or repairs related to the construction, design or operation of the bridge. Award is subject to final approval.
