The City of Altus is seeking bids to install a new water main to serve our landfill. The project involves installation of 3286 ft or 6-in water main. 3010 ft is PVC C900 and 276 ft is ductile iron pipe. The project also involves installing two fire hydrants, custom construction of a filling station, a meter/BFP in a concrete vault, and a water hammer arrestor in a manhole. There will be four separate 1-inch taps and a total of 337 ft of plastic service line. This project involves the following elements. Bids shall provide labor, equipment, materials and incidentals needed to perform the following work: 1. Locate and connect to existing 8-inch PVC C900 pipe using 8in x 6in ductile iron tee with mechanical joints. 2. Furnish and Install new 6-inch PVC C-900 pipe on the west side of S. County Road 196 a distance of 2,323 feet and use a 6in x 6in ductile iron tee with a blind flange to turn 90 degrees. 3. Furnish and install 140 ft of 12-inch steel casing under gravel drive to farm and double drive at landfill. 4. Continue installing 6-inch PVC C900 pipe eastward for 687 feet. Install 6-in gate valve and 5 ft x 4 ft concrete meter vault to include a 3-in Sensus Omni Turbo+ meter and a 3-in Watt Series LF709 Double Check Valve Backflow Preventer. 5. Transition to 6-in Ductile Iron Pipe at STA 30+10 and install 276 feet of 6-in DIP. 6. Install 6-in Water Hammer Arrester in 4-ft concrete manhole as shown. 7. Construct new 6-in Water Fill Station with 6-in Gate Valve as shown. 8. Install valve and hydrant at the end of the water main as shown. 9. Install four service taps as shown. Each uses a 6-inch x 1-inch tapping saddle and 1-inch plastic service line for a total service line length of 337 feet. 10. Cut and cap existing 2-in water service line as shown. Remove 4ft of pipe and abandon the rest. 11. Install inlet protection at two pipe culverts under county road consisting of silt dikes or approved equal. 12. Backfill, compact, seed and straw at the end of each day. OPDES coverage not required but basic erosion, sediment and pollution controls must be provided. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to study all bids for thirty (30) days prior to bid award. The City reserves the right to award this bid in whole or in part as deemed in the best interest of the City. Bids received more than ninety six (96) hours before the time set for opening of bids, or any bid received after the time set for the opening of bids, shall not be considered and shall be returned unopened. Award shall be based on a determination of the lowest qualified bid.
