As of May 12, 2023, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the design phase. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to 2024. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Yancey County is seeking statements of qualifications from firms capable of providing engineering, planning, and consulting services for the purposes of infrastructure construction and site development for 47-acre industrial park project located at 104 George Brown Road, in Burnsville, North Carolina per the scope of work identified below. Yancey County, planning for growth and economic development, both industrial and commercial, desires to procure engineering services including, without limitation, a preliminary engineering report, project scoping, engineering and design, bidding, and construction administration and supervision for a project which will completely design and develop a pad ready 47-acre industrial park campus at 104 George Brown Road, Burnsville, North Carolina. Such work to include, without limitation, installation of utilities, industrial access roads, and building pad sites per an adopted master development plan. Special consideration will be given to firms who have completed projects pertaining to comprehensive design and development of industrial sites and industrial park campuses for similar units of local government in North Carolina. The Project shall include complete final site design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration pertaining to the installation of all utilities, construction of industrial and interior subdivision access roads, and construction pad-ready site preparation for the 47-acre industrial park per the preliminary master development plan approved by Yancey County. The scope of services may include, but is not limited to, preliminary and other engineering reports, environmental document preparation if required, engineering design of selected alternative(s), permitting, bidding, construction administration and observation, and project close-out. For the duration of the Project, the selected firm will work in cooperation with the Yancey County Managers office and the Yancey County Economic Development Commissions Executive Director. The selected firm shall be under contract until the final Engineer's Certification and Applicant's Certification is granted.
