Renovation of an educational facility in Morganton, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The Scope of Work is to remove existing above ceiling unit ventilator units, existing ahu in multipurpose room and replace; remove existing dual-temp piping system and install new 4-pipe (hot water and chilled water) piping networks, complete; install new chilled water and hot water distribution pumps and piping trim / accessories in boiler room; install new ddc controls tied into existing building Trane energy management system utilizing existing Trane Air-Fi wireless system (expanded / extended as required) all programming and graphics to be included. Existing ductwork will be utilized to the fullest extent possible. Existing lay-in ceilings will generally be replaced. Track may be cleaned / reused and reinstalled and left in place or replaced (at contractor's option); however, all grid to be replaced with new pattern to match existing by Armstrong, white color (coordinate with the owner). All lights / grilles and other ceiling devices to be installed in new ceiling coordinate with existing conditions. Existing grilles / diffusers to be cleaned prior to reinstallation. Work will generally extend over two summers two phases. Bidders must be Licensed HVAC contractors and the Sub-contractors of the class as required by the State of North Carolina statutes for the work being bid. A single contract will be accepted for HVAC, Electrical, and General Construction work. The HVAC / Mechanical contractor shall be the prime contractor. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or a certified check, drawn on some bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to not less than 5 per cent of the proposal, or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of 5 per cent of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds, conditioned that the surety will upon demand forthwith make payment to the obligee upon said bond if the bidder fails to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit shall be retained by the Owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. Performance Bond and Payment Bond will be required for one hundred per cent (100%) of the contract price. Payment will be made monthly on the basis of completion of work, with retainage in accordance with NC General Statutes 143-134-1. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 45 days. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive minor irregularities. Any addenda to specifications issued during the time of bidding are to be considered covered in the proposal and in closing a contract they will become a part thereof. It shall be the bidder's responsibility to ascertain prior to bid time the addenda issued and to see that his bid includes any changes thereby required. Should the bidder find discrepancies in, or omission from, the drawings or documents or should he be in doubt as to their meaning, he shall at once notify the Designer in writing who will send written instructions in the form of addenda to all bidders. Notification should be not later than seven (7) days prior to the date set for receipt of bids. Neither the Owner nor the Designer will be responsible for any oral instructions. All addenda shall be acknowledged by the bidders on the Form of Proposal. Requests for substitutions of materials or equipment shall be submitted by prospective bidders in writing to the Designer not later than seven (7) days prior to the date set for receipt of bids.
