Northwest Elementary HVAC Retrofit Project - The project consists of furnishing the following supplies, equipment, and/or services. Location- Northwest Elementary School District 1202 West 1st Street Ankeny, IA 50023 The bids are for a single Prime Contract (general, mechanical and electrical combined) for a retrofit of HVAC systems for Northwest Elementary School. Bids shall be on a lump sum basis; segregated sub-bids will not be accepted. Scope- This Project consists of replacing the existing HVAC systems serving the Northwest Elementary School Building. New ground-coupled water-source heat pumps and packaged dedicated outdoor air systema air handling units shall be installed to serve all normally occupied building spaces. General construction work to accommodate installation of new HVAC equipment and electrical work to support new HVAC equipment shall be included in the project scope, along with all other work indicated in the Contract Documents. The Project includes three (3) bid alternates, including replacing lighting in corridor ceilings to be removed and reinstalled, providing alternate unit configurations for DOAS-1 and DOAS-2, and replacement of all system propylene glycol solution. Work is anticipated to commence upon award of contract, and be completed by July 2023, in one phase as shown on the Contract Documents. Bidders and Sub-bidders requiring interpretation of the bidding documents or substitution requests are required to make a written request to the Engineer by 5:00 p.m. local time seven calendar days prior to the date for receipt of Bids. Clarifications or modifications of the Bid Documents will be addressed via Addendum by 5:00 p.m. local time five calendar days prior to the date for receipt of Bids Bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid in the form of certified check, credit union share draft, or surety bond written on an original AIA Document A310, Bid Bond is required for this project. The successful bidder will be required to provide surety Performance and Payment Bonds in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Sum. The bid security should be made payable to the Ankeny Community School District. The bid security must not contain any conditions either in the body or as an endorsement thereon. The bid security shall be forfeited to the District as damages in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses toenter intoacontractwithin 10 days after the award of contract and post bond satisfactory to the District in suring the faithful fulfillment of the contract and the maintenance of said work, if required, pursuant totheprovisionsof thisnotice and the other contract documents The award of the contract may be made by the Board of Education of the Ankeny CommunitySchool Districtto any responsible bidder or bidders offering suitable supplies, equipment and/or serviceat thelowest pricetaking into consideration the quality of materials or service in the best interest of theOwner. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, andtoenter intosuchcontract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interest of the Owner. This Project is tax exempt. Do Not include Iowa State Sales Tax in any calculation of Bidtotals. Contractorsand Suppliers will be provided an Iowa sales tax exemption certificate for this Project. Byvirtueof statutoryauthority, preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal producedwithintheStateofIowa. The award of the contract may be made by the Board of Education of the Ankeny Community School District to any responsible bidder or bidders offering suitable supplies, equipment and/or service at the lowest price taking into consideration the quality of materials or service in the best interest of the Owner. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interest of the Owner The Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities or irregularities allowed by law and to enter into such Contract or Contracts as may be deemed in the best interests of the Ankeny Community School District. Plans and specifications governing the construction of the proposed improvements, and also the prior proceedings of the Board of Education referring to and defining said proposed improvements are hereby made a part of this notice and the proposed contract by reference. All bids will be governed by applicable provisions in the Iowa Code and Ankeny Community School District policies, including its Non-Discrimination Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Policy. As of January 17, 2023, no new informatin available a. Single Phase or Phase 1 shall commence on approximately June 3, 2024. b. Single Phase or Phase 1 Work shall be substantially complete by August 9, 2024. Any work associated with this phase that remains after this date shall be completed outside of normal school hours. c. Phase 2 Work (if applicable) shall commence on approximately June 2, 2025. d. Phase 2 Work (if applicable) shall be substantially complete by August 12, 2025. Any work associated with this phase that remains after this date shall be completed outside of normal school hours. e. All Project Work shall be complete by August 26, 2025.
