The Purchasing Division intends to solicit for a contract with restrictive specifications if it is determined to be in the best interest of the County. This is not a request for pricing or a commitment to purchase. Justification for Sole Source Acquisition The construction associated with future projects intended for Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (Airport) will require coordination, connection, and integration to the Airport's METASYS(R) Building Automation system currently provided and maintained by the Original Equipment Manufacturer Johnson Controls, Inc. When these systems are modified, expanded, monitored, tested, inspected, or require repairs and maintenance, such contracts must use the approved vendor that is in place to test, program, certify and maintain warranties, etc. Use of a different system will not integrate with the existing system and may adversely affect temperature controls within the facility. Qualifications Vendor must be a Johnson Controls, Inc. trained and authorized service provider of the METASYS(R) Building Automation System. Proof of Johnson Controls authorization should be provided with the RFI response and must be provided within three days of County request. General Prospective Vendors are requested to provide information regarding their ability to supply the commodities or contractual services described or written explanation or other documentation contesting the proposed designation as a Sole Source. Prospective Vendors will be considered only if they provide documentation demonstrating that they are capable of meeting or exceeding the specification requirements stated herein. All Vendor responses will be evaluated by the Director of Purchasing who shall have sole authority in establishing the approved equal status of the commodity or service offered by the vendor. The Director of Purchasing shall consider such submittals and notify all submitting vendors of the decision whether to designate as a Sole Source, which decision shall not be subject to objection, protest, or appeal.
