Site work for a civil project in Windsor, Connecticut. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and water / sewer project.
The culvert carrying a stream under River Street near Strawberry Hill is a large 72 inch asphalt-coated corrugated metal pipe which was installed in the 1970's. It is showing signs of corrosion. Additionally, the pipe is over 50% blocked at the outlet of the culvert. The downstream drainage area has filled with sand/silt over the years, such that the stream is not evident. It is proposed to clear the pipe, line it with polyethylene and dredge the downstream area to Old River Street. First in Connecticut. As of April 19, 2023, this project is included in the Town of Windsor's FY 2023-2028 Budget CIP and funding is allotted for construction in FY 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
