Contract Type: Open Market, Purchase using various funds; when using Federal Funds Durham Public Schools will follow all Federal guidelines. Written questions concerning this RFP will be received until November 1, 2022 at 2:00pm Eastern Standard Time. They must be sent via e-mail to: Dist.Purchasing@dpsnc.net please insert "Questions for bid RFP# 179-2223-203-GYM-FLOOR. Scope of Work: Durham Public Schools is searching for contractors to provide gym floor refinishing, repainting, and repair at it designated sites. Contractor will provide full-service, turn key, gym floor maintenance and repair services. Contractors may also provide services related to the redesign/repainting of gym floors. Also, if available, please provide your cost to refinish and refurbish wood stage floors. The contractor is to provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to provide gym floor refinishing services and related services/products as a part of this request for proposals. All contractors are expected, in their response, to provide the process that they will sand and refinish the floors. The minimum, must be adhered to for the following: Sanding and Refinishing I. Clean the floor thoroughly ensuring that all foreign matter has been removed. 2. Sand the entire floor with heavy power sanders. Durham Public Schools will ensure there is a connection to the power source. 3. Use progressively higher gritsandpapersfor each cut 4. At completion ofsanding, vacuum and clean floors 5. Re-inspect to ensure no damage took place. Report damage to the Director of Facilities or designee. 6. Cover allsleeves to ensure they are not coated with finish 7. Apply the first coat ofsanding seal using VOC compliant sanding scaler. 8. Screen to take out grain rise 9. Clean floor and add a second coat ofsealer I 0. Screen or use other techniques to ensure a smooth floor 11. Clean entire surface 12. Paint game lines and logosthat are in place at each site. Colors must be consistent with the colors that are already in place. 13. Abrade paint as necessary 14. Clean floor surface. 15. Tack rag the floor 16. Apply first coat of finish and ensure bonding 17. Apply second coat 18. Finished floor will have a uniform smooth appearance with no visible swirl marks Floor Repairs I. Contractor will remove all damaged wood. Care will be used to not damage adjacent areas that are not damaged. 2. Contractor will identify and match existing floor and subfloor prior to sanding 3. Wood will be properly seasoned. Contractor will be responsible for checking moisture of wood with moisture meter according to manufacturer's recommendations. 4. Contractor will protect wood during transit from excessive moisture during shipment 5. Installations and repairs will be completed to the manufacturer's instructions and recommendations 6. All mounting hardware in the floor will be installed if it had to be removed. Products 1 . Oil based polyurethane finish product with greater than 40% solids. 2 . Please provide in your submission the products and product sheets for the products you plan on using in the execution of this contract. Miscellaneous I. It is expected that the contractor will provide a contact person to schedule work and supervisor or point of contact for all work-related issues. This person is to communicate with school personnel on a regular basis. 2. Contractor will take all necessary precautions to provide safety equipment and materials for work completed 3. Contracted employees will be required to check in daily at their assigned school location. Selection Criteria: The district will select the vendor based on the following criteria: o Price - 50% o Ability to Meet District Needs - 20% o Vendor Location - 10% o Vendor Reputation - 10%
