Site work and renovation of an educational facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Conceptual plans call for site work for a educational facility; and for the renovation of a educational facility.
New Mexico State University received $50.5 million from Higher Education General Obligation Bond Question 3 in the Nov. 5 elections. The university will split the money into six different projects: $20 million to upgrade aging steam tunnel and electrical infrastructure at the main Las Cruces campus. $15 million to update research infrastructure at NMSU’s science and research centers across New Mexico. $10 million for construction on NMSU’s main campus for a new facility that will support an undisclosed specialized instructional need. $3 million for improvements on Martinez Hall at NMSU’s Grants campus. $1.5 million for the loop road and emergency evacuation routes at the Gadsden Center at Doña Ana Community College, a branch of NMSU. $1 million for renovations for facilities and infrastructure at NMSU’s Alamogordo campus. NMSU’s Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) is the principal research unit of the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences. The AES system supports fundamental and applied science and technology research to benefit New Mexico’s citizens in the economic, social, and cultural aspects of agriculture, natural resource management, and family issues. NMSU has a critical need to update research infrastructure across the state at its science and research centers strategically located throughout New Mexico. Priority projects for this $15 million will include housing, demolition, replacement facilities, and site infrastructure, following recommendations from a facility condition index review conducted at each facility. As of November 18, 2024, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified.
