Renovation of a mixed-use development in Fairfield, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.
The manufacturer's representative shall be available to help resolve material questions. A five (5) percent bid bond or equal approved security as stated per the Terms and Conditions must be submitted with the proposal. The Town always reserves the right to reject surety companies, if an approved surety bond cannot be provided the bidder shall be deemed non-responsive. The bidder declares that the scope of the work has been thoroughly reviewed and any questions resolved (see above for name and number of individual to contact for questions). If applicable, the bidder further declares that the site has been inspected as called for in the specifications (q.v.). The Town shall apply the most current wage decision applicable at the time of contract award. The Town shall notify the Contractor, in writing, of the necessity of such extra work, stipulating its character and extent. Upon receipt of such notification, the Contractor shall advise the Town, in writing, of the compensation, whether unit price or lump sum as requested, for which he/she proposes to perform the extra work required. The Town may accept the compensation proposed by the Contractor, or if the Town considers the prices submitted to be excessive, the Town may order the work done on a "Cost Plus" basis. In either case, the character and extent of the extra work together with the accepted basis of compensation shall be communicated to the Contractor by means of a change order which, when signed by the Contractor and the Town, shall become part of the contract. Unforeseen work made necessary by changes in plan or work necessary to complete the improvements for which no price is provided in the contract, shall be done in accordance with the requirements of the specifications and as directed by the Town. Late bids will be returned to the bidder unopened Project Location(s): 1. Timothy Dwight Elementary School Tennis Court Rebuild, 1680 Redding Road, Fairfield, CT. 2. Fairfield Woods Middle School Tennis Court Rebuild, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road, Fairfield, CT. 3. Tunxis Hill Park Pickleball Court Rebuild, 225 Melville Avenue, Fairfield, CT Scope of Work: 1. Provide engineering services by a qualified engineer (Post Tension Tennis and Pickleball Courts Engineer) licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut to calculate and design the details for all the structural components of the post tension tennis and pickleball courts. 2. Provide geotechnical investigation of subsurface conditions to confirm bearing capacity of soils. Excavate unsuitable material and backfill with structural fill as required. 3. Design and install subsurface drainage system if required by geotechnical investigation. 4. Design and install new post tension concrete tennis and pickleball courts, surface acrylic coating system, perimeter concrete curb, tennis and pickleball equipment and fencing system PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK The responses shall include the following: furnish all materials, labor, and equipment to perform the design, layout, permits (permit fees shall be waived) and reconstruction of: o Four (4) regulation size tennis courts 1. REMOVAL: Contractor shall remove all fences, tennis nets. New post tension courts shall be built over existing asphalt tennis courts. 2. BASE: The existing courts meet a 1% pitch. The existing courts can remain, and the new courts can be built over the existing. 3. FENCE: The existing fence posts and rails shall be straightened and painted black. New #8 galvanized polyvinyl coated 2" mesh 8 ft. high shall be installed onto the existing fence posts and rails. All existing hardware shall be properly reset prior to installing new chain link mesh. Fence limits measure approximately 805 Linear Feet. 4. POST TENSION CONCRETE: A. Form work will be installed around the entire perimeter of the 4 court areas. B. New net post sleeves to be set in their own concrete footings. C. Two layers of 6 mil poly will be placed over the entire court area. D. Encapsulated Post-tensioning tendons will be laid out according to PTI specifications. E. A 5" thick, 3000 psi concrete slab will be poured monolithically inside the forms. F. Post-tensioning cables will be stressed according to PTI specifications and procedures. G.The concrete surface will be checked for flatness, according to the ASBA guidelines. Any deviations will be brought to proper tolerances with 5000 psi epoxy concrete. H.After final cable stress, cable ends will be cut off inside the cone holes, and the holes filled with no-shrink grout. I. Sand entire court surface.
