Bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid is required in the form of a certified check, cashiers check, or bid bond payable to Battle Creek Public Schools. The Contractor shall furnish bonds covering faithful performance of the Contract and payment of obligations arising thereunder. Bonds may be obtained through the Contractors usual source and the cost thereof shall be included in the Contract Sum. The amount of each bond shall be equal to 100% of the Contract Sum. Bidder proposes and agrees hereby to commence the Work of the Contract Documents on a date specified in a written Notice to proceed to be issued by the Owner and shall fully complete the work on or before February 1, 2023. Timelines can be flexed if needed based on material availability. 1. Successful bidders must hold a valid certificate of authorization to complete repairs on a pressure vessel (R-Stamp). a. A class II Michigan license allows a licensee to repair a low pressure boiler, a hot water supply boiler, and a fire tube boiler of any pressure and to perform work covered by a class I license. 2. Repairs may be completed during normal working hours 3. It is the responsibility of the selected contractor to plan site logistics and building access with district personnel. 1. Remove a ligament from the tube sheet to aid in tube removal. 2. Remove the old tubes from the boiler. a. Tubes may be removed from the boiler room through an exterior opening and lifted up through steel grating. 3. Clean all accessible scale and buildup from the boiler interior while ligament is removed for easier access. 4. Reinstall the removed ligament. 5. Install new tubes a. Lower new tubes through the same grating into the boiler room. b. Pass the tubes through the front of the boiler to the back of the boiler and set them in place. 6. Roll the tubes into their specific sockets. 7. Bead all installed tubes 8. Perform a hydrotest on the boiler.
