Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a medical facility in Los Angeles, California. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 11,500-square-foot medical facility; for the addition of a medical facility; for the demolition of a medical facility; and for site work for a medical facility.
UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select an Executive Architect for the proposed 200 Medical Plaza, Suite 540 Head & Neck Clinic Expansion Study. UCLA Health proposes to select an architect to plan a renovation of approximately 11,500 SF in the Peter Morton Medical Building (200 Medical Plaza) to accommodate the expansion of the Head & Neck Clinic. The renovated suite would provide additional exam rooms, new offices, and clinical spaces. Responses to this RFQ should demonstrate familiarity and experience in the renovation design, planning, and construction of medical office suites, adding new exam and procedure rooms, including Department of Public Health requirements (Title 22). The specific personnel proposed for assignment to this project must demonstrate experience in these areas. Mechanical and Electrical systems analysis of the existing building infrastructure shall be included in the pre-design study phase to ensure the projected design loads can be supported. The project is subject to review and approval by the UC Board of Regents or their delegated authority. This RFQ is for full design services comprising architectural basic services, including schematic design, design development, interiors package, construction documents, cost estimate, LEED, assistance during the bid/award phase, construction administration, record documents, and project closeout for the 200 Medical Plaza Blood Draw Clinic Expansion. However, the University reserves the right to defer negotiations of services other than the pre-design study until the completion of the pre-design phase. The project construction cost has not yet been determined and will depend upon the potential phasing of the project. The work may be executed as several incremental projects. The project's construction cost is anticipated to be in the range of $8 to $10 million, depending on the agreed-upon scope of work. The design shall comply with the University of California Policy on Sustainable Practices to achieve a minimum USGBC LEEDTM "Silver" certification. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. A screening committee will determine a shortlist of firms; further steps in the selection process will be at the selection committee's discretion. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within limits imposed by law or University policy.
