2-601 The Buffalo Public Schools Division of Plant Services and School Planning is soliciting Bids to repair an existing trench drain connected to an oil water separator at the Joseph F. Jones Service Center located at 95 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo NY. Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Set Aside: No Contract term: Maximum Term End: 06/30/2023 Questions Due*: 11/7/2022 4:00 PM 1. Contractor shall cut and patch approximately 200 linear feet by 6-foot-wide by 8" deep concrete slab on grade. Contractor shall remove all spoils and be responsible for proper and legal disposal. 2. Excavate sub-grade as required to install associated piping. 3. Install owner provided catch basins (total of 6) to be equally spaced along the length of the trench drain. a. Alternate #1: Utilize a prefabricated trench drain furnished and installed by Contractor. This Alternate shall minimize concrete demolition for the installation of the new prefabricated trench drain. 4. Buffalo City School District (BCSD) Plumber assessed the existing condition of the oil water separator (O/W) and has determined to be functional and can remain in service. 5. Contractor shall be responsible to furnish and install all associated piping, couplings, fittings etc. to interconnect to Owner provided catch basins. HDPE pipe 6" diameter. 6. Upon installation of all associated piping and catch basins, Contractor shall perform water test to confirm a leak-free watertight system. 7. Contractor to furnish and install the following for concrete finish work: a. #5 bar 24" long embeds @ 24"o.c. staggered along full length of trench. Minimum of rebar embed depth of 12" into existing concrete. b. #1 stone backfill to be utilized c. 5000 psi, minimum of 8" thick concrete slab on grade with 6x6 10ga. Welded wire mesh to be installed and tied to rebar embeds. d. All new concrete flatwork shall promote positive drainage to new catch basins. All edges of new work abutting existing concrete work shall match adjacent elevations. 8. Contractor shall be responsible for all the required temporary protection to maintain BCSD daily operations of the facilities. This shall include but not limited to the following: a. Always maintain owner provided and installed steel plates to have access to garage lifts. b. Ventilation of garage space c. Required signage and barricades for safety during the duration of the construction project. d. Maintain existing fire alarm system including but not limited to smoke detectors, heat detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire alarm pull stations. 9. Contractor shall perform a final broom clean of garage space. More importantly, cleaning shall include wiping down all surfaces, and garage equipment that has construction related dust and debris. BCSD is requiring a thorough cleaning of light fixtures, fire alarm fixtures/ devices and replace any ventilation filters within the garage space.
