Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Maquoketa, Iowa. Design plans call for the construction of a golf course; for site work for a golf course; playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
As of December 21, 2022, Jeff Harper of Iowa City was awarded the design contract. Construction is anticipated to take place in either the summer or fall of 2023. *The previous solicitation is listed below for reference The goals of the project are to increase tourism in the Maquoketa and greater Jackson County area by: o Promoting the water quality of Prairie Creek; o Protect stream banks; o Increase fish stock; o Construct approximately .33 miles of ADA accessible paved trail along the scenic Prairie Creek and Oakland Mill with two pre-cast pedestrian bridges to connect the existing trail system in Prairie Creek; o Develop a fully accessible open-air park shelter on the North side of Prairie Creek Recreation Area; o Install approximately 5-10 tent campsites near the existing shelter; o Capitalize on the land's incredible features to build an exceptional, tournament level quality disc golf course. From the rolling hills of the oak savanna to the dense woodlands spotted with limestone bluffs, Prairie Creek Recreation Area is full of ecological and archaeological treasures. This 273-acre area was donated to Jackson County Conservation in 2014 by Robert J. Martin in memory of Sally Ann Moler and Joseph A. and Evelyn E. Martin to be enjoyed by the public as a park and recreation area. Project proposals will be evaluated by representatives of the City of Maquoketa and Conservation Board. The City will select the firm based on the best value provided for the project as demonstrated in the proposal submitted and associated fees. If proposal negotiations commence and are not successful, negotiations will be terminated and the next preferred designer will be contacted. The City and Conservation Board reserve the right to accept or reject any or all proposals based on the best interests of the City and Conservation Board. The contract will be based upon the final scope of services. As stated before, preference will be given to firms who submit a final cost not to exceed offer and profile a high-quality product with project references. The designer selected shall comply with the State laws of Iowa and carry insurance as required by the City & Conservation Board.
