Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Maquoketa, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a golf course; sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; bridge / tunnel; bridge / tunnel; playground / park / athletic field; road / highway; and road / highway.
The extent of the work involved is the furnishing of labor and new materials for the construction of Destination Iowa Prairie Creek Recreational Trail & Disc Golf Course and includes the construction of a new 10' wide HMA recreational trail, 150' steel truss bridge, 90' steel truss bridge (alternate), HMA parking lot, an 18 hole disc golf course, and associated earthwork. More specifically, the project includes approximately 4,210 SY of 4" HMA pavement, 956 SY of 6" HMA pavement, 420 SY of PCC Sidewalk and tee pads, 3,480 CY of Excavation, 965 CY of Topsoil stripping and re-placing, 285 LF of culvert pipe, installation of baskets and signs for the disc golf course, seeding, erosion control, and other collateral work necessary to complete the improvements in accordance with the plans as specified herein. Site Address: Prairie Creek Maquoketa The bid security shall be made payable to the City of Maquoketa. The bid security shall be placed in a separate sealed envelope with the bidder's name and address, as well as the name of the project, indicated on the envelope and the envelope shall be marked "Bid Security". Bid security shall be either: (1) a certified check, or a cashier's check drawn on an Iowa bank, or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount of 5% of bid amount; or (2) a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount of 5% of bid amount; or (3) a bid bond executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the penal sum of 5% of bid amount. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and Payment Bond, both in an amount equal to one hundred (100) percent of the Contract price. Said bonds are to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Owner and which shall guarantee a faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the Owner from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contractor. Said bond shall also guarantee (warranty) the work against defects in workmanship and material during construction and for two (2) years after the time of acceptance of work. The Contractor can commence work any time after the Notice to Proceed is issued and all work shall be completed on or before December 31, 2025. The Owner reserves the right to withhold up to two hundred and fifty percent (250%) of the cost to correct deficient work or complete the work known at the time of substantial completion. The owner will proceed without unnecessary delay to consider the proposals. However, the Maquoketa City Council, Jackson County Conservation Board, and the Jackson County Board of Supervisors reserves the right to reject all bids, to reject any unresponsive bid, to waive any technicalities in bids received, and to enter into such contract deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Maquoketa and Jackson County.
