Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a municipal facility in Sparta, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the addition of a 7,473-square-foot, three-story above grade municipal facility; for the demolition of a municipal facility; for the renovation of a 8,885-square-foot, three-story above grade municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
All Bidders must hold a valid Unlimited General Contractor's License in NC to bid on this project. Work includes all Selective Demolition, Civil, Landscaping, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Security and Communications Infrastructure systems for the construction of The Alleghany County, Office Building Renovation Project, in Sparta, NC, Alleghany County. The project involves demolition of an existing 1400 s.f. addition to the front of the building built in the 1970's which was damaged beyond repair in the earthquake of 2020, and renovation of the front of the building to include new facade, canopy and entrance with an accessible parking space. Bids will be received for single prime. All proposals shall be lump sum. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following: Demolition of Approximately 1,400 s.f. of wood framed addition built in the 1970's on the front of the original 1955 Brick veneer building. The electrical and mechanical utilities serving the addition will be capped and electrical extended to the site elements that require power. Site preparation for brick and concrete hardscape including a site stair, new flagpole and an asphalt accessible parking space and modified entrance driveway. The project includes a 1,600-sf new exterior wall and approximately 420 sf of new aluminum canopy. Roofing will be modified to extend the existing roofing up the new parapet wall with compatible flashing. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or a certified check drawn on some bank or trust company, insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal, or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent (5%) of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit shall be retained by the owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. A performance bond and a payment bond will be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Payment will be made based on ninety-five percent (95%) of monthly estimates and final payment made upon completion and acceptance of work. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 30 days. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
