Renovation of a water / sewer project in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Orange Water and Sewer Authority (the Owner) is soliciting proposals for the cleaning, sand blasting, surface preparation and coating of the steel cap of Digester #3 at the Mason Farm WWTP (the Project).\ The cap consists of an 50 diameter steel cap, steel angle braces, penetrations and pipes for sampling, manways and gas injection lances. The attic space is an enclosed area above the steel cap and contains structuralsteel members thatsupport the roof above and a coating on the top of the steel digester cap. The attic space and digester interior work will require confined space entry procedures, access limitations, significant cleaning of accumulated water and grease and unknown extent of corrosion. The interior cap will require rigging and scaffolding built to purpose in the digester to access the roof. The contractor will be allowed to perform temporary modifications on the roof and cap with approval by the owner and engineer. Repairs to the same or better condition will be required at no cost to the Owner. The Contractor shall be required to coat all steel surfaces with failed coatings in the attic under a unit price cost. Additional tasksrequired to complete the work may be compensated on a case by case basis and at the approval of the Owner.
