As of December 1, 2022, an architect has been selected for the project. Construction is not expected to start prior to 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Tarpon Springs seeks to identify firms with substantial experience and capabilities to provide a variety of architectural and engineering design services including conceptual/preliminary design, design development, public meetings and presentations, preparation of bid and construction documents, and construction administration for construction of a community service building in the City of Tarpon Springs. The new facility will be located in the vicinity of the existing facility near Dorsett Park on Harrison Street in Tarpon Springs, eventually servicing as the replacement to the existing facility. The exact location of the new facility is to-be-determined through a site alternatives analysis to be conducted by the selected consultant. All work shall be in compliance with current code requirements. The selected consultant shall prepare all documents in the formats required by the City and shall adhere to all City deadlines so as not to negatively impact the project schedule. The new building will be known as the Cops 'N Kids Youth Center and will house office space for administrative staff, meeting/conference rooms, classrooms, locker rooms with showers, gymnasium (basketball court), employee break room, large kitchen, large food and supplies storage room(s), and laundry facilities. It is anticipated that the facility will be a one-story (approximately) 5,000 square foot facility with an attached covered driveway for child pickup/drop-off, though the building size may be adjusted as needed during design. Although not preferred, a multi-level facility configuration may be considered during the alternatives analysis phase if space limitations become a factor during the evaluation. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
