The Board of Education of Baltimore County invites Contractors to bid on the Pikesville Middle School - Chiller Replacement, Solicitation Number CWA-108-23 (PSCP# 03.085.22 HSFF). Any inquiries regarding the specifications and/or the solicitation document shall be IN WRITING and submitted per the instructions in the solicitation document Part II Section 11.0 Inquiries During Bidding. Verbal questions will not be taken. All bidders shall be pre-qualified by Baltimore County Department of Public Works (BCDPW), Contracts Division, Category I, Buildings, Classification Number 5 (Mechanical), prior to the date of bid opening. Certified Minority Business Enterprises are encouraged to respond to this solicitation notice. The contractor or supplier who provides materials, supplies, equipment and/or services for this construction project shall attempt to achieve the specific overall MBE goal of 20 percent established for this project. All prime contractors, including certified MBE firms, when submitting bids or proposals as general or prime contractors, are required to attempt to achieve this goal from certified MBE firms. There are no subgoals established for this project. Any MBE firms bidding should review the provisions in COMAR 21.11.03.12-1 for counting a portion of self-performance toward meeting the stated goals. The Work includes, but is not limited to, the removal and replacement of the existing chiller #1 located at Pikesville middle school, in Baltimore County, MD. Chiller #1 is an existing 230-ton Mcquay air cooled chiller located outside the building with remote evaporator located in the adjacent mechanical room. All existing indoor and outdoor components, along with the associated refrigerant piping, shall be removed. The replacement chiller shall have a scroll or screw compressor and shall match the existing chiller capacity. The replacement chiller shall be a packaged air-cooled chiller (not split evaporator type) and be provided at the same location at grade utilizing the existing concrete pad. Chilled water piping shall be extended from the outdoor chiller and connect to the existing piping within the mechanical room. All chilled water piping located outdoors shall be provided with heat trace to prevent freezing. The existing chilled water pump serving the chiller is existing to remain and shall be re-balanced
