As of September 19, 2024, this project is on hold. Clock Tower Plaza Renovation Design will involve the closure of accesses from both Main Street and 3rd Street. Design will establish vendor spaces for incubator retailers along the westerly and southerly boundaries of the site. Design will also include seating areas and tables, locations for artwork to be situated, internal site lighting and landscaping, and a potential water feature within the plaza. Design will include provisions to apply electricity to the various vendor stations. Project will include the complete reconstruction of the surfacing of Clocktower Plaza (surfacing is currently cracked and crumbling asphalt). Drainage must be addressed. The winning planning/urban design firm will provide the city with full construction plans for the project. The successful vendor will provide the final design in print and as electronic documents. The new construction plans will be owned and editable by Canon City for any future updates or amendments. Both proposed documents will be reviewed by the City of Canon City's legal representation for compliance with applicable State of Colorado laws and regulations. Such review will be at Canon City's approval and expense. The successful vendor shall create an effective and inclusive Public Outreach Campaign, to glean public input from Canon City residents and businesses, creating three alternative designs for the renovations of Clock Tower Plaza. These alternatives will then be presented to a joint City Council/Planning Commission task force where a single design will be selected. This final selection will be the version made into construction documents.
