Renovation of a water / sewer project in Tampa, Florida. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.

The City of Tampa Wastewater Department desires to obtain Professional Engineering Services to complete the design for the rehabilitation of 18th Street Pumping Station located at 9707 N 18th St, Tampa, Florida 33612. Estimated Total Project Construction Cost is $4-6 million Questions may be directed to Jim Greiner, P.E., Contract Administration, City of Tampa, (813) 274-8598, or E-Mail jim.greiner@tampagov.net. 18TH Street Pumping Station was originally constructed in 1957. Although the station has undergone multiple upgrades and repairs, several of the stations components are original and have reached the end of their useful life. The station currently uses two (2) variable speed pumps (#1 & #2) & one (1) constant speed pump (#3). Each pump is rated for a maximum flow rate of 7 MGD and is equipped with a 60 HP motor. The station discharges through a 24" HDPE force main that flows to a gravity system located near the intersection of E. Sewaha Street and N. 17th Street. Services will include, but not limited to, engineering investigations, site planning, cost estimating, surveying design, permitting, engineering services during construction and all related work required for a complete project. The rehabilitation shall include but is not limited to the following: Replacement of all pumps, valves, fittings, and deteriorated station piping; replacing electrical and control systems including a new emergency standby generator, TECO transformer, Main Circuit Breaker, Motor Control Center, Automatic Transfer Switch, Annunciator/PLC cabinet, VFDs, level controls, and flow meter with transmitter cabinet. Selection of pumps and pumping strategy shall provide a station peak wet weather pumping capacity of 11-13 MGD and the daily flow requirements. The City would desire to convert this wet pit/dry pit station to submersible type station. Scope shall include determining the feasibility of this option. The pump selection and pump strategy shall be designed to maximize energy efficiency using variable speed controls and shall be capable of being installed using the stations current wet pit/dry pit or new submersible configuration. The station is located in a residential area and the City has received complaints regarding odors at the station and in the area surrounding the station. The project shall include improvements to address station odors. The design services shall include, but not be limited to, assessment of equipment replacement needs, development and analysis of alternatives for pumping strategy needed to meet current and future flow requirements, equipment selection and layout, evaluation and development alternatives to address station odors, developing construction sequencing, and preparing cost estimates; preparing contract documents for the selected alternatives, including signed and sealed construction plans with electrical instrumentation and controls, specifications, final construction cost estimate, preparation of construction documents for bidding, submittal and tracking of all regulatory permit applications, obtain all required permits, shop drawing review, responding to Request for Information (RFI) requests, and associated activities required during construction. The design services will also include developing a sequence of operation, bypass pumping requirements, and the construction requirements so that wastewater flow is maintained throughout the construction of the rehabilitation The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
