Construct 4 wells North and West of the Water Treatment Plant in the south 1/2 of Section 2, Township 133. A 14-inch raw waterline will need to be installed and connected to the existing raw waterline by well number 3. This potential project came forward as a result of the State Water Commission (NDSWC) aerial survey of the region and research of the aquifers in the area. Another branch of the Wahpeton Buried Valley Aquifer was identified. During the summer of 2021 Manikowski Well Drilling completed nine test wells. After the testing both Manikowski and the State Water Commission felt that there is plenty of water capacity in this area for municipal wells. The goal is to create four new clear water wells capable producing between 750 to 1,200 gallons per minute. Proposed well sites would include an onsite generator in the event of power interruptions/outages. Wires will be run between at least two wells so generator can run well in the event of a power outage. Dakota Valley Electric will provide the electric in this area. The 14-inch water main would be approximately 8 miles depending on the location of the wells. Land and easements would need to be purchased for the wells, raw waterline installation, and electrical power This project is included in the city's fy 2025 Capital Improvement Program.
