Renovation of an educational facility in Berkeley, California. Working plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
All Bids were rejected as per Bid Tabulation. Subcontractors are to bid "net" of insurance for General Liability (GL) included in their bids. Subcontractors are to bid "net" of insurance for Workers Compensation Insurance (WC) included in their bids. See Exhibit D for additional insurance clarifications/requirements. Regarding bidding "net" of insurance, Subcontractors are to exclude the cost of insurance (GL & WC) per the coverages listed in the UCIP Manual being provided with the Contract Documents. Subcontractors are to include any "Difference in Coverage" costs for GL & WC not covered under the UCIP in Subcontractor's bid. The UCIP Manual will be issued as a bid addendum. All subcontractors providing delegated design or other design/engineering services are to include Professional Liability Insurance per the project requirements. All other miscellaneous insurance coverages required by the Contract Documents shall be included in Subcontractor's bid as well. The owner has purchased a Subcontractor Default Insurance program therefore Payment and Performance Bonds from the trades will not be required. However, trade contractors may be required to evidence their ability to provide a 100% Payment and Performance Bond upon request by Webcor Builders. Also, Subcontractors will be required to fill out the 100% Payment and Performance Bond rate on the provided Bid Form should Webcor Builders elect to Bond the subcontractor instead of enrolling them in the Subcontractor Default Insurance program. Bid Bonds are required by UC Berkeley in the amount of 10% of the Subcontractor's Bid Value. If a Subcontractor is bidding on multiple work packages, they must submit an individual bid bond for each individual/separate work package they submit a bid for. All of the above listed items must be included in the bid submission to be deemed a responsive bidder. The Exhibit F1 and Bid Bond can be uploaded as attachments to the bid form. All completed bid forms and attachments must be submitted prior to the close of the bid period per the dates and times listed herein. No late submissions will be accepted and if any are received, they will be rejected outright. Please allow for adequate time to complete and submit the bid form in its entirety. Please submit any and all Bid RFIs prior to the dates listed in this Invitation To Bid. Responses will be issued as an addendum.. Please issue the Bid RFIs as you generate them, no need to wait until the last day. Please use your own log and tracking methods when issuing to Webcor. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
