Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Decatur, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a laboratory facility; for the construction of a one-story above grade laboratory facility; office development; office development; and for the demolition of a 35,000-square-foot municipal facility.
Plans consist of a new administrative office complex and wastewater treatment laboratory to replace three buildings of approximately 35,000 sq ft that are currently used by District personnel. The building will be located at 501 Dipper Lane, Decatur Illinois and will be a single-story facility containing both public access areas for meetings and non-public access areas for the laboratory, workspaces, breaks, and locker and changing facilities. The District is seeking a "net-zero" design approach that will take into consideration sustainability, renewable energy, geothermal heating and cooling, LED lighting, high efficiency wall insulation, and green/high solar reflective index roofing, and other innovative sustainable design features to create a "flagship" building that aligns with the SDD's mission of creating a clean and sustainable water resource. As of September 27, 2024, this project has been awarded to a general contractor. The architect has been identified. A firm construction start date has not been announced; however, this project will take a year to complete.
