Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Madison, Connecticut. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.
As of November 3, 2023, this project was cancelled due to design cost. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Town of Madison ("Town") Beach and Recreation and Facilities Departments invite qualified firms and individuals to submit qualification statements and proposals to provide comprehensive Architectural Services for proposed renovations to Town owned buildings at 257 Copse Road, otherwise known as Bauer Farm. Interested firms shall have extensive experience in the renovation of historic structures and current building code requirements for publicly accessible buildings. The Town has previous feasibility studies and scopes of work for the buildings in question as well as pre-approved budgets for each scope of work. Town is looking for an Architectural firm to review and compile all previous studies and scopes into an up to date set of architectural drawings and specifications to be bid out for Construction in the Spring/Summer of 2023. The historic farmhouse has been primarily used for storage since being donated to the Town. In addition to preserving and maintaining the structural integrity of the house, the Committee wishes to convert the bottom floor into educational classroom and display space. Basement, second floor and attic spaces will continue to be used for storage or administrative purposes only. The structure requires complete mechanical replacement to meet modern building, fire and ADA compliance. Full abatement or encapsulation of existing hazardous materials, see attached Hazardous Material Sampling report, is required. A Hazardous Material Consultant has been contracted by the Town to work in conjunction with the Architect to complete abatement specifications in relation to the proposed architectural modifications to the building. Upgrades to entrances and widening of interior passageways to meet ADA compliance and facilitate educational displays. Exterior upgrades and repairs to maintain the structure and architectural details. Natural gas is available in the street in front of the house, no present connections exist. All windows in the house are original and must be preserved as well as the wood flooring, and plaster work in the front rooms of the house. All questions about the meaning of the intent of the RFP Documents shall be submitted via email to Felicia Smith Felicia@SmithandMadison.com to receive consideration, questions must be received by December 7, 2022. Any interpretations of questions so raised, which in the opinion of the Town require interpretations, will be issued by Addenda to be posted online as an addenda to the original bid documents not later than December 9, 2022. Bidders are responsible for checking and confirming Addenda postings. The Town will not be responsible for oral interpretations or clarifications which anyone presumes to make on its behalf. The Town of Madison reserves the right to waive any informalities, irregularities or defects in bids, to reject any and all bids and to accept a bid that, in its' sole discretion, is in the best interest of the Town. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
