Renovation of a theater / auditorium in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.

The Mandell Weiss Theater is the largest theater space in the Mandell Weiss Center for the performing arts. It is a proscenium theater that seats 500 audience members and supports La Jolla Playhouse productions. Adjacent to the theater, there is the technical shop that serves the production spaces of all the theaters in the Mandell Weiss Center. The Mandell Weiss Theatre and Shops Seismic Improvements project consists of the structural upgrades of the existing Mandell Weiss Theatre and Shops supporting the theater productions. The scope of work consists of the addition of new structural steel members and concrete footings, welding of existing members, demolition of existing architectural finishes to access the brace frames, and repair of existing finishes after the seismic upgrades are completed. The project will be constructed by Subcontractors each working under a separate contract with Rudolph and Sletten, Inc. These contracts will be based on the Bid Package listed. Overall the University seeks Contractors with demonstrated experience in structural retrofits of existing facilities. Specific experience requirements include: retrofits of performing arts and/or shops facilities with limited access, accelerated schedules, and occupied during construction. COST 04 Structural Concrete and Reinforcement B or C-8 $175,000 No Prequalification Questionnaire will be received after 4:00 P.M., THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2023. In lieu of mandatory Prequalification Meeting, Intent to Submit in writing (via email to jcuevas@ucsd.edu and rnorthrop@ucsd.edu must be received by 4:00 P.M., FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2023 in order for your firm to submit Prequalification Questionnaire. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
