Renovation of an educational facility in Lakeview Heights, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The Howell McDowell Hall & Claypool Young Art Building Chiller Water System Upgrades Project will take place within Howell McDowell located on the campus of Morehead State University. This scope of work includes the replacement of the existing air cooled chillers with remote condensers located at the ground floor levels of both Howell McDowell Hall and Claypool Young Arts Building on the campus of Morehead State University. These buildings are adjacent to one another, and currently share an outdoor enclosure for the existing chiller heat rejection equipment (condenser/condensing unit). The new chillers will be air cooled with remote evaporators to be located within the building. The new air-cooled condensing units will be located on the roof of each building, and refrigerant piping will be routed through the upper two stories of each building to connect the new chiller equipment. The new chillers will be connected to existing chilled water piping. This scope of work includes all associated electrical, architectural, and structural work required to accomplish this equipment replacement. The air cooled chillers, condensers and evaporators are to be owner-furnish and contractor install. It will be the responsibility of the contractor to receive shipment of and unload the owner-furnished equipment when it arrives. Bids will be received from contractors on a Lump Sum Amount for the total project. All phases of the work shall be submitted in the manner herein described and on the official proposal form included with the conditions and specifications and shall be subject to all the conditions as set forth and described in the Bid Documents. Bids shall be submitted only on the Official Forms supplied by Morehead State University, Procurement Services. Failure to comply with the foregoing requirements will be cause for invalidation of bid. Final award of Contract will be made on an evaluated basis considering the offer that provides the best value for the University considering the following factors: Price 90% The overall price for the base bid and all selected alternates will be considered. Due to the nature of the project, Morehead State University reserves the right to accept alternates in any order that it deems to be in the best interest of the University. Experience of the Firm and Team proposed 10% respective experience with similar project types, to include experiences with the Owner if any, in addition to contact information identified per listed project. Projects shall be of similar project type, construction type, and scope within the last ten years. Please provide a minimum of two references. Bidders should also provide information for each similar project demonstrating the number and type of change orders required for each project and schedule adherence to the original agreed schedule. (a maximum of 5 points will be awarded for experience and references). Preference will be given to contractors demonstrating experience with similar work. The submitting contractor shall identify all key individuals that will manage the daily operations of the construction project. Submissions must include resumes and experience for the project manager and key technical staff. Preference may also be given to contractors who demonstrate supply chain diversification in their proposals. Substantial completion shall be 90 calendar days after contract start date. Final completion shall be 105 calendar days after contract start date. All bids shall be accompanied by a bid guarantee of not less than five (5%) percent of the amount of the base bid. A 100% Performance Bond and 100% Payment Bond shall be furnished by the successful bidder. All bonding and insurance requirements are contained in the Instruction to Bidders and/or General Conditions. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the date set for the opening of bids. Clerical errors and omissions in the computation of the lump sum shall not be cause for withdrawal of the bid without forfeiture of bid bond. Bids may be withdrawn in person only, prior to the closing date for receipt of bids. (270) 564-2064 and Louisville Minority Business Development Center, 611 W. Main Street, Louisville Kentucky 40202, ATTN: Mr. Darnell Jackson and the Minority and Women Business Enterprise Certification Program, at 502-564-8099. Bidders using minority enterprises as subcontractors and material suppliers are requested to identify these contractors in the space provided on the Form of Proposal. The successful contractor will be asked to supply associated contract amounts rounded to the nearest $500.00 prior to the signing of a contract. Morehead State University, Procurement Services, reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive all formalities and/or technicalities where the best interest of the University may be served. A. The Listing of major subcontractors, unit prices, and material lists are to be submitted with the bid. B. A prime bidder is to have a responsible authorized representative at the bid opening for post bid review of the apparent low bid that follows immediately after the opening and reading of the bids. Failure to comply with this requirement may be cause for rejection of bid. Decisions and Clarifications discussed at this meeting will be incorporated into the bid documents by an addendum issued no later than seven (7) business days prior to bidding. Completion Date: Substantial completion shall be 90 calendar days after contract start date. Final completion shall be 105 calendar days after contract start date.
