Project was awarded to Ka’iwa Construction, Inc. for ($7,377,246.38) The project includes removal of the existing asphalt concrete pavement for Puhi Road from Kaneka Street to Haleukana Street. Puhi Road will be reconstructed to include both asphalt concrete (AC) and Portland cement concrete (PCC) travel lanes, bike lanes and parallel parking areas; concrete curb and gutter with concrete sidewalks and paths; curb ramps; grade adjustment wall; grassed swales; catch basins, drain inlets and drain lines; fire hydrant relocations; utility adjustments; AC and PCC pavement transition areas; pavement striping; and pavement markers. During construction, two-way traffic shall be maintained between Kaneka Street and Hanalima Street for the entire duration of the project. Contractors interested in accessing and responding to Invitation For Bid (IFB) Document No. 3862, assigned by the Division of Purchasing must be registered as a Public Purchase Vendor, Hawaii Region, and Kauai County Agency. To be eligible to bid, bidders must possess a valid State of Hawaii General Engineering Contractor's "A" license, prior to the award of the contract.
