Saving Project...

Renovation of a municipal facility in East Lansing, Michigan. Working plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

The owner has determined a prequalified list of design build companies. The project is expected to be released for bid in 2023. Approx cost is $120,000. To increase pedestrian safety and enhance the pedestrian experience during nighttime hours, on November 1, 2022, East Lansing City Council approved the allocation of $120,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds towards a Downtown Lighting Enhancement Project. The Downtown Lighting Enhancement Project seeks qualified contractors to improve lighting in two priority locations with insufficient lighting in downtown East Lansing. Qualified contractors are encouraged to submit proposals for lighting at one or both listed locations. Maps, specifications, and the City's lighting insights on each locations are detailed in the RFP. The current budget for this project is $120,000, however, this dollar amount may be flexible as the City actively seeks supplemental funding sources. A preferred plan will include input and guidance in lighting that enhances public safety in a downtown setting. Although the primary goal of the Downtown Lighting Enhancement Project is increasing safety, the City of East Lansing also hopes to enhance the attractiveness of downtown East Lansing through this project. With this in mind, the City encourages submissions that range from traditional or standard streetscape lighting infrastructure to creative lighting concepts that still accomplish the overarching safety goal.
