This work shall include, but is not limited to removal of the asphalt and concrete parking lot, excavation of the in-situ building foundation of the former Goldblatt's Department Store, removal of the foundation walls and columns, in-situ demolition of the floor slab and footer, crushing concrete for suitable fill and other various work in the City of Hammond, Lake County, Indiana. All Bidders must be properly licensed in the City of Hammond at the time bids are received. The deadline for submitting an application and required information for a Hammond License is one week prior to the meeting All Bidders must comply with Hammond Ordinance No. 9519 related to Responsible Bidding Practices that requires all Bidders to become prequalified by the City of Hammond Building Commissioner prior to submitting a Bid for Public Works for the City of Hammond. Bids shall be properly and completely executed on bid forms contained in the Contract Documents. No bidder may withdraw his proposal for a period of 60 days following the date set for receiving bids. The Hammond Board of Public Works and Safety reserves the right to retain any and all bids for a period of not more than 60 days, and said bids shall remain in full force and effect during said time. The Hammond Board of Public Works and Safety further reserves the right to waive informalities and to award the contract to any Bidder all to the advantage of the Hammond Board of Public Works and Safety or to reject all bids. Each bid shall be accompanied by an acceptable certified check or cashier's check made payable to the Hammond Board of Public Works and Safety or an acceptable Bid Bond in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total bid price executed by an incorporated surety company in good standing and qualified to do business in the State of Indiana. A performance bond and payment bond each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price will be required.
