The Contractor shall furnish all necessary equipment, supervision, labor, transportation, tools, and incidentals as required for satisfactorily performing snow and ice removal services for parking lots, entrance road ways, sidewalks and walkways during winter storms events as stated herein for the VDOT. Snow shall be piled in such a way that snow will not fall back onto sidewalks, steps, roadways, parking lots. VDOT will direct contractor on snow piling locations that are less obstructive for VDOT. See Attachments for specific site maps identifying areas to be plowed, shoveled, treated and cleared. All work shall be performed following the direction given by the Contract Administrator, or designee. The Contractor's equipment and personnel shall be in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, manufacturer's recommended procedures, industry standards and codes including OSHA and VOSH Standards. The contractor shall remove frozen precipitation including sleet, freezing rain, and snow from asphalt and concrete sidewalks, steps and walkway during winter storms as directed by VDOT. This shall include blowing and/or shoveling and spreading abrasives as required for providing adequate passage for pedestrians at the facility. The contractor shall furnish shovels, walk behind snow blower, backpack snow blowers and walk behind spreaders all-inclusive in the contractors hourly bid rate for laborer. The Contractor shall apply de-icing chemicals to provide traction and melting of the frozen precipitation to facilitate the passage for pedestrians. VDOT will supply de-icing chemicals to be used for sidewalks / walkways. In case of rapid snow fall, the contractor shall provide additional laborers as listed for each location. Laborers shall be experienced in snow removal operations and shall efficiently operate the various equipment utilized for snow removal operations on the complexes. The contractor shall provide gloves, wet weather gear, appropriate safety apparel; i.e. safety vest, hard hat, steel toe shoes, etc., as needed to provide the requested services. The purchasing agency reserves the right to cancel and terminate any resulting contract, in part or in whole, without penalty, upon 60 days written notice to the contractor. In the event the initial contract period is for more than 12 months, the resulting contract may also be terminated by the contractor, without penalty, after the initial 12 months of the contract period upon 60 days written notice to the other party. Any contract cancellation notice shall not relieve the contractor of the obligation to deliver and/or perform on all outstanding orders issued prior to the effective date of cancellation.
