For North Iowa Area Community College - Gymnasium Floor Abatement Proposals will be acted upon by the North Iowa Area Community College Board of Directors immediately following the closing of the public hearing at a special scheduled board meeting on December 15, 2022, in the Administrative Board Room at 500 College Drive, Mason City, Iowa, 50401, or at such later time and place as may then be fixed. The method of construction shall be by Single Stipulated Sum Contract, and all work is to be done in strict compliance with the plans and specifications prepared by Bergland & Cram Architects (and Consultants) Mason City, Iowa, which have heretofore been approved by the Board of Directors and are now on file for public examination in their office and in the office of the Office of Secretary of the Board, Room 101J Administration Building North Iowa Area Community College. Each bid must be made out on a proposal blank furnished by the Bergland & Cram Architects, Mason City, Iowa and obtained at the office of the Architect. Each proposal shall be sealed in an envelope marked NORTH IOWA AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE, GYMNASIUM FLOOR ABATEMENT.A bid bond shall not be required for this project. Work shall commence on a scheduled time frame of April 24, 2023, to May 12, 2023. After May 15, a Liquidated Damages penalty of $1,000/day will be imposed per contract. Site preparation and pre-staging measures can proceed prior to April 24, 2023. The Contractor and all Subcontractors shall not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, religion, color, sex, national origin or age. The Contractor shall take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment without regard to their race, religion, color, sex, national origin or age. Such action shall include, but not be limited to the following; employment, upgrading, demotion or transfer; recruitment or recruitment advertising; layoff or termination; rates of pay or other forms of compensation; and selection for training, including apprenticeship. The Contractor agrees to post in conspicuous places, available to employees and applicants for employment, notices setting forth the policies of non-discrimination. The Contractor and all Subcontractors shall, in all solicitations or advertisements for employees placed by them or on their behalf, state that all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, color, sex, national origin or age. Bidders shall not be permitted to withdraw their bids for a period of thirty (30) days after the same are opened. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products of and provisions grown within the State of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor. Payment for said NORTH IOWA AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE, GYMNASIUM FLOOR ABATEMENT. will be made from the North Iowa Area Community College Building Fund or from such other funds as may be legally used for such purposes. Monthly estimates will be approved by the Architect and payment will be made by the Owner to the Contractor in the amount of ninety-five percent (95%) of said estimate on or about the tenth of the following month. Final payment will be made not sooner than thirty (30) days following final acceptance of the work by the Board of Trustees, North Iowa Area Community College The North Iowa Area Community College Board of Trustees reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive technicalities and irregularities.
