The Saltville branch is now housed in an about 80-year-old building that has experienced flooding, HVAC system and ventilation problems, and insect infestations. Last year, the Appalachian Regional Commission awarded Smyth County $80,000 “to analyze spatial needs for a new and expanded Saltville Library, including cost estimates and a recommended location for the improved facility design.” As of July 3, 2023, an architect has been selected. Request for Proposals Smyth County, Virginia Architectural & Engineering Services Planning Grant Spatial Needs & Building Site Analysis Saltville Library Workforce/Education Connection Plan Smyth County Administration is requesting proposals from qualified firms to perform a spatial needs and building site analysis that evaluates current and future opportunities of the Saltville Branch Library's overall operations. As a part of the analysis, a preliminary architectural report will allow the library to expand their facility and incorporate economic development goals into their future services. Addenda to this proposal, if any, including written answers to questions, will be posted on the County website as well.
