1.01 DESCRIPTION A. Work Summary: The North Park Water Tower Restoration project is defined by the Construction Documents and Specifications. A general summary of Work is as follows: Provide labor, materials, and equipment required to Perform Work under following Prime Contracts: 1) General Construction a) Sandblast, prime and paint inside and outside of water tower structure, including dome, per plans/specs. Existing lead paint on tower requires removal/remediation per plans/specs and in accordance with environmental regulations. b) Modify existing steel spiral staircase railing by full welding additional baluster between existing balusters. Prep and paint staircase, per plans/specs. c) Add stainless steel handrail to existing railing at overlook deck, per plans/specs. d) Remove existing circular terrazzo concrete bench/vent at center of overlook deck, replace with GFRC replica, per plans/specs. e) Repair existing observation deck terrazzo floor, per plans/specs. f) Demolish existing security door entrance to tower staircase. Fabricate new security door entrance at landing 1, with stainless steel mesh surround, per plans/specs. g) Demolish and replace 2 concrete steps and concrete landing, with added frost-resistant foundation wall, at base of tower stairs, per plans/specs. h) Structural/cosmetic repairs on steel tower and stairs, per plans/specs. i) Other work, as specified2) Electrical Construction a) Demolish all existing electrical conduit and fixtures on tower, and underground feed to tower from adjacent Lodge building. b) Furnish and install new Quazite box with new electric feed, and spare conduit, fed from Lodge building. c) Run new duct bank/power from Lodge to tower, and compact/restore all trench work. d) Furnish and install new conduit, wire, required to install new: light fixtures at landings and along staircase between landings; LED rope lighting at interior of tower dome; aviation obstruction lights around perimeter and top of dome; and receptacles and switches; per plans/specs. All new conduit need painted to match tower. 1.02 CONTRACT DURATION A.Perform construction work within 180 consecutive calendar days from Notice to Proceed (NTP). repair and alteration level 1 to existing water tower to arrest rusting, improve safety, and reopen to public as observation platform. work includes repainting interior and exterior of tower, stair, and guardrail; install new guard pickets and buffer rail at deck, replace bench, restore terrazzo, replace entrance enclosure; stair and navigation lighting replacement and underground utility replacement; rainwater leader replacement. no mechanical or fire protection scope.
