Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Oxford, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.

For the Oxford Performing Arts Center Donor's Club Renovations Oxford, Alabama Bidders interested in submitting a proposal must apply for Pre-Qualification for the Bid Package on which they have an interest in bidding. All applicants for Pre-Qualification must be licensed under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975. Only bidders who have completed the Pre-Qualification process and have been approved to bid will be eligible to bid for the Project. The Pre-Qualification procedure is intended to identify responsible and competent bidders relative to the requirements of the Project. The Owner reserves the right to waive technical errors in applications, or to abandon the Pre-Qualification process. Each Bidder must submit a completed AIA Form A305 to the Architect, providing evidence that the Bidder meets the following criteria: (1) Licensed General Contractor in the State of Alabama (submit a photo static copy of the license); (2) Successful completion of three projects within the last five years of similar cost, scope, duration and complexity; (3) Bonding Company has an A.M. Best rating of "A-" or better; (4) Bid Project's value must be less than or equal to 50% of the annual dollar volume of the applicant's like work; (5) Available workforces for this project; (6) Current work in progress; (7) The bidder's financial strength; (8) Past history of meeting construction performance schedules; (9) Proposed procedures to ensure proper management and project quality control if awarded the construction contract. Additional sets for bidding contractors and each trade contractor bidder, subcontractor, vendor, or dealer may be obtained upon payment of the same deposit; this deposit for either additional sets or sets to subcontractor, vendor, or dealer, will be refunded less the cost of printing, reproduction, handling and distribution, upon the return of the documents in reusable condition within ten (10) days after bid opening. Failure of the prime bidding contractor to submit a bonafide bid will result in forfeiture of deposit, unless plans and specifications are received by the Architect at least ten (10) days prior to the Bid Date. Drawings and specifications may be examined in the office of the Architect. BONDS: A certified check or bid bond payable to the City of Oxford Alabama in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but not exceeding $10,000, must accompany the Bidder's Proposal. Performance and Statutory Labor and Materials Payment Bonds will be required at the signing of the Construction Contract. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms or copies thereof furnished by the architect. No bid will be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt, for a period of thirty (30) days. The Owner reserves the right to reject bids if such action is determined by the Owner to be in the best interests of the Owner. The Owner reserves the right to revoke the pre-qualification of any bidder in accordance with Section 39-2-4, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended in 1997 by Act 97-225. The three low bonafide Bidding Contractors will be required to submit a list of major subcontractors expected to perform the work, within thirty (30) minutes of the receipt of Bids, in writing to the Architect. Nonresident Bidding Contractors: Under Section 39-3-5, Code of Alabama, 1975, nonresident prime contractor bidders must accompany any written documents with the written opinion of an attorney licensed to practice law in such nonresident prime contractor bidders' state of domicile as to the preferences, if any or none, granted by the law of the state to its own business entities whose principal places of business are in that state in the letting of any or all public contracts. Resident prime contractors in Alabama, as defined in Section 39-2-12, are granted preference over nonresident prime contractors in the awarding of contracts in the same manner and to the same extent as provided by the laws of the state of domicile of the nonresident. Sales & Use Tax Savings Arrangement: Materials incorporated into the Work are exempt from Sales and Use Tax pursuant to Alabama Act No. 2000-684 (effective October 1, 2000). General Contractors and subcontractors interested in bidding this project are advised to contact the Sales, Use, and Business Tax Division of the Alabama Department of Revenue for information regarding required qualifications for exemption.
