As of December 18, 2023, per owner, the project is under design. A design team has been identified. They hope to have a preliminary alignment in the fall of 2024. Final Right of Way Plans would be available in 2026. Depending on the availability of funds construction could begin around 2030. User Division - Highway Design Approximate Fee - $1,000,000 Preliminary Engineering & Environmental Services (Lump Sum) Project Funding - State Funds (SPP Funds) Project Length - Approximately 1.46 miles KY-536 is a narrow two-lane facility not equipped to safely accommodate existing and projected traffic volumes, and has no accommodations for bicyclists or pedestrians. This area is increasingly urban and connects residential areas to an elementary school and commercial establishments. Numerous vertical and horizontal deficiencies are present along KY-536, including sharp curves and poor sight distance. KY-536 has nonexistent, and/or dropping shoulders. The intersections lack turn lanes around White's Tower Elementary. The Consultant team may include a DBE Participation Plan with their Response to Announcement to help the Department meet the 11.95% DBE goal established by FHWA. If included, an additional page will be allowed in the Project Approach (Section 7) to demonstrate this plan. The plan would demonstrate how DBE companies will be mentored or used to assist in the area(s) pertaining to this contract. No additional points will be provided in the Evaluation Factors for the DBE Participation Plan.
