M'Kean Maffitt Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant was originally constructed in 1972 with a permitted treatment capacity of 6 million gallons per day (mgd). In 1986, the plant was expanded to 12 mgd. Much of the Southside plant's infrastructure has been in service over fifty years and is approaching the end of its lifecycle. The Southside WWTP Replacement/Capacity Upgrade project will replace the plant and increase treatment capacity from 12 to at least 16 mgd. In December 2022, this project was approved by the Board to be completed using the progressive design-build-delivery method. In preparation for the upcoming Design Build RFQ, Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) would like to provide design-builders and professional engineering firms with historical information on Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade and Expansion project. Some of the information that will be shared will be the following: o Historic Plant Record Drawings o 2009 - Design Drawings o Environmental Assessment o Current NPDES Permit o Electrical Usage for 2020-2023 o Influent Water Quality o Residual Production for 2022
