Work on the substation began in 2023 and some materials have been purchased. In 2024, the new transmission line was started with completion anticipated in the fall. The line is going from the line on U.S. Highway 63 to the property south of town off U.S. Highway 160 where the new substation will be constructed. This work is scheduled for late 2023 or early 2024. A new tranmission line is being constructed as well. The line is going from the line on U.S. Highway 63 to the property south of town off U.S. Highway 160 where the new substation will be constructed. The city capital improvement tax and utility revenue are funding the construction of the project. As of September 7, 2023, project is in the Capital Improvement Program FY 2023-2027 and scheduled for FY2023-2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
