Renovation of a mixed-use development in Falcon, Colorado. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

1. The soils encountered generally consisted of native clayey sand, silty sand and poorlygraded sand with silt extending to depths ranging from approximately 0.5 to 4 feet. Bedrock predominantly consisting of sandstone was encountered beneath the overburden soils to the maximum 5- to 25-foot depths explored. 2. Ground water was not encountered in the borings at the time of drilling or when checked nine days later. 3. We recommend the proposed building be supported on spread footings placed on the native soils, sandstone bedrock, or nonexpansive structural fill. Footings should be designed for an allowable soil bearing pressure of 2,500 psf. 4. We recommend a minimum full-depth asphalt section of 4.25 inches for parking lot areas restricted to automobile traffic, and 5.25 inches for the drive lanes and areas of combined automobile and occasional truck traffic. For the fire department access road, we recommend a minimum 4 inches of Class 5 or 6 aggregate base course. Trash pickup areas and other areas where truck turning movements are concentrated should be paved with a minimum 6 inches of portland cement concrete. This report presents the results of a geotechnical engineering study for the Pikes Peak School of Expeditionary Learning, to be located on Lots 57 and 58 of the Antlers Ridge Estates development in Falcon, Colorado. The project site is shown on Figure 1. This study was conducted in accordance with the scope of work in our proposal dated November 16, 2007, to develop recommendations for foundations, floor slabs and pavements. This report has been prepared to summarize the data obtained during this study and to present our conclusions and recommendations based on the proposed construction and the subsurface conditions encountered. Design parameters and a discussion of geotechnical engineering considerations related to the proposed construction are included in the report. 1. Project consists of (1) level above grade. Foundations consist of shallow spread footings. Superstructure is structural steel framing. Lateral systems are steel braced frames. 2. This description is for general orientation only. The General Contractor is responsible for all scope items described in the drawings and project specifications as well as for all material and labor that can reasonably be inferred there from. Test, adjust, and balance the following: 1. Packaged Roof Top Heating/Cooling Units. 2. Air Inlets and Outlets. The Contractor shall fully execute the Work described in the Contract Documents, except as specifically indicated in the Contract Documents to be the responsibility of others. PIKES PEAK SCHOOL OF EXPEDITIONARY LEARNING FALCON, CO is issuing a Request for Bids to firms interested in providing General Contracting (GC) Services for their Entry Addition Project.
