Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Newmarket, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
Mulock Drive (Y.R. 74), 700 m east of Bayview Avenue (Y.R. 34) in the Town of Newmarket. The Region is inviting Bids from qualified contractors to provide goods and services with respect to the Work. The existing horizontal ellipse culvert was originally constructed in 1985 and consists of a 34.94m long corrugated steel structural plate pipe with a 3.9 m span and rise of 2.3 m. The existing culvert barrel is in poor condition. Shoring was installed at the north and south end of the barrel in 2020 as a temporary holding strategy. The replacement structure is a single barrel 4.2 m x 2.4 m x 35.0m (span x rise x length) precast concrete rigid frame. The rigid frame will be supported by cast-in-place pile caps with piles driven to refusal layer. The replacement has the same alignment as the existing structure perpendicular to the roadway centerline. This replacement meets all hydraulic requirements. Bidders are advised that the Deliverables will be performed during the 2023 construction season.
