Scope of Work: Remove the Existing Asphalt Pavement on Anders Lane from Winfield Lane to State Highway 96 and replace with approximately 9,460 Square Yards of Concrete Pavement and underneath it and installation of new storm sewer. The purposes of this investigation were to evaluate the soil and water (if any) conditions along Andres Lane in the City of Kemah, Texas and to provide geotechnical recommendations for the design and construction of the proposed widening with concrete pavement and storm sewer installation. The scope of this investigation consisted of the following tasks: o coring the existing asphalt pavement for boring access; o drilling and sampling six (6) soil borings each to a depth of 15 feet for a total drilling footage of 90 feet; o grouting all boreholes with non-shrink cement bentonite grout after completion of the drilling and water level measurements; o performing minimum laboratory tests to evaluate the physical properties and strength characteristics of the subsurface soil; o performing engineering analyses to develop geotechnical recommendations for bedding and backfill of storm sewers, water level control for open cut construction and rigid pavement reconstruction including subgrade stabilization; and o preparing a geotechnical investigation report including field and laboratory data and engineering recommendations as outlined above.
