The City of Binghamton seeks qualification statements from professionals/consultants to develop a site plan for Parlor City Commons. The site plan will site surfacing, lighting, landscaping and overall aesthetics of the location. Additionally, the proposed site plan must receive approval from the City of Binghamton's Commission on Architecture and Urban Design (CAUD) and SHPO as Parlor City Commons is within the boundaries of a National Register Historic District and State and Local Historic District. Located within the City of Binghamton, Parlor City Commons is a downtown courtyard location of approximately 0.4 acres. It was reconstructed in approximately 1984, converting an alley way between historic row buildings into a public gathering space. In recent years, as a result of its age, use, and weathering, Parlor City Commons has begun to exhibit signs of deterioration and now requires restoration and repair. The components of Parlor City Commons to be restored include the following: o Pavement o Lighting o Clock o Masonry Work o Landscaping o Seating o Elimination of vehicular access points CAUD and SHPO must review and approve the Parlor City Commons Plan. The design must retain the character of the National, State and Local Historic District.
