The Work of the project includes the improvement of approximately 1,133 feet of an existing dirt road, near the existing Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore, AL., and all related work, as indicated in the Bid and Contract Documents.The Contractor shall include with the check for the bid documents, the Contractor's mailing address, street address, telephone number, email address, General Contractors License number, Federal ID number, and whom to contact. Prequalification for General Contractor Bidders and Subcontractors is required for this letting. Prequalification packets are available along with the bid documents from Thompson Engineering. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's proposal. Performance and statutory Labor and material Payment Bonds, insurance in compliance with requirements, and verification of E-Verify enrollment will be required at the signing of the Contract. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, and must show such evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by Engineer or Owner. The bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered; Bidder must also include his or her current license number on the Proposal Form. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days.This project is being bid, under the provisions of Alabama Act 2000-684, which require the General Contractor, in part, to take advantage of the Owner's tax exempt status, obtain necessary certificates and other documentation required from the Alabama Department of Revenue, make payment for all materials, and to administer the sales and use tax savings portion of the project, as a part of their Bid. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technical errors if, in their judgment, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted
